Meet Our Staff

Rick Peterson is a Professor and Family Life Specialist at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and serves as the Principal Investigator and Project Director for the Strengthening Families of the Brazos Valley.  Dr. Peterson has program development experience in the areas of family life, parenting, child care, and mental health.

Dr. Peterson is pleased to be able to offer Strengthening Families of the Brazos Valley education and services to the community and is proud of the efforts of his staff in carrying out the program.

Rick is married and enjoys spending time with his family and keeps busy with all his daughter’s various activities.

Laurie Naumann is the Project Manager for Strengthening Families of the Brazos Valley. Laurie graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Psychology.

Before stepping into her current role, Laurie was the Program Coordinator for Texas AgriLife Extension’s Parent Education Program where she provided parenting classes and parental influence presentations for a ten county area.

When not working, Laurie enjoys spending time with her husband of 25 years and their 5 children, volunteering at her church, reading, listening to all kinds of music, and playing the occasional video game.

Chasitdy Love is the Grimes County Program Coordinator for Strengthening Families of the Brazos Valley. Chasitdy graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

After graduation, Chasitdy initially worked for Mental Health Mental Retardation Authority of the Brazos Valley as a case manager before being hired by UTMB Correctional Managed Care as their mental health case manager at the Luther Unit in Navasota. Chasitdy spent a number of years at UTMB providing mental health case management to the serious mentally ill population in the prison.

Chasitdy is a product of Navasota and is excited to bring Strengthening Families of the Brazos Valley to the community which helped raise her.

Chasitdy is married to Steven and they have three children. Chris is an Airman in the United States Airforce, Jonathan is an active athlete who plays most sports but his favorite is basketball, and Madison is a competitive cheerleader.

Christi Palmer is the Program Coordinator for Strengthening Families of the Brazos Valley in Robertson County.  Christi is a graduate of Tarleton State University where she received a BS in Business Administration, and is also a graduate of McLennan Community College where she received an AAS in Veterinary Technology.

She is a former Child Protective Services Caseworker and also has worked in the corporate sector as a financial controller and Human Resource Manager.  Christi has a passion for animals and worked briefly as a Registered Veterinary Technician while completing her bachelor’s degree at Tarleton State.

After gaining valuable experience and developing vital relationship skills throughout her career of over two decades, Christi joined the SFBV in June.

Christi hopes to make SFBV the most recognized and prominent program in Robertson County by informing the community about who they are, what resources they can help link the community to and the quality programs offered, as well as facilitate the evidence-based classes and ensure that community members benefit from the program by helping to make and keep families healthy.

In her spare time, Christi enjoys spending time with her family, watching youth and high school sports in which her nephews and niece play, and spending time at home with her horses and dogs.  Christi is interested in learning to cook new recipes and gardening to grow her family’s own vegetables and herbs.

Holly Narro is the Burleson County Program Coordinator for Strengthening Families of the Brazos Valley. Holly is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health. Holly worked for many years as a health and community educator for St. Joseph Regional Health Center and most recently worked for the Burleson County Extension Office.

Holly is excited to implement Strengthening Families of the Brazos Valley in her “home town!”  She has strong ties to Burleson County and has lived in Caldwell her entire life. Holly’s  family has lived there for many generations. She truly cares about the communities in Burleson County and the families that live within the county, and she looks forward to serving them.

Holly enjoys spending time with her busy children, husband, family, and friends. She also enjoys traveling with her family. Holly is very involved in numerous community organizations and youth groups.

Hola!! Judith Baños is the Program Coordinator for Madison County with Strengthening Families of the Brazos Valley.   She is from El Salvador and moved to United States as a teenager all by herself to study.

She graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St Paul, MN. She received a bachelor in Public Health and Nursing. Judith, worked for many organizations teaching young adults and parents about health education, parenting and community services. She also is bilingual. (Spanish and English).

Judith is excited to implement the Strengthening Families of the Brazos Valley project in Madison County and looks forward to working in the local community.

By air or by ground, Judith loves to travel to new places including other countries. Also, she likes to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoys the ocean, mountains, hiking and running in her free time.

Judith says to “Never forget where you came from” and “The key to success is education.”

Nancy Winn, Program Coordinator for Strengthening Families of the Brazos Valley (SFBV) Brazos County, brings years of experience in prevention and community organization, along with a degree in Human Services, credentials in prevention and chemical dependency counseling.

After ten years in the private sector, Nancy decided to make a career change to work in the nonprofit field.  She brought her administrative skills to a non-profit in Houston, TX as an administrative assistant working with the director of programs for state and government funded prevention, intervention, and treatment services.

As she saw the organization’s work in the community, she developed a passion for the field of addiction and its mission to reclaim disordered lives.  With the encouragement of her husband, former director, and mentor, they  pursued their dreams to move to the Brazos Valley and open their own facility, 3rd Day Treatment Center, LLC in Brazos Valley.

Nancy spends most of her spare time with her family and friends. She enjoys nature walks with her husband and  her dog Sadie, swimming and many other outdoor activities with her family.  She also volunteers her time to food pantries, Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) and church.

Joe McGinty is the Marketing Coordinator for Strengthening Families of the Brazos Valley. Joe is a graduate of Howard University, where he received a BA in Journalism.

After graduation, Joe launched his career with KBTX-TV3 in Bryan,Tx, where he was known as “Street Corner Camera!”  That eventually led to a TV career in Houston where he worked at KRIV FOX26, KPRC NBC2 and KIAH CW39.  After more than two decades and vowed to never work through another flood, Joe joined SFBV in June.

Joe hopes to make SFBV a “household” name by letting people know who they are, what they do and what type of quality of programs they provide.

In his spare time,  Joe enjoys a good happy hour with friends, watching his favorite sports teams, spending time with his family and sleeping in between! He’s also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Lakshmi (Hema) Mahadevan is an Associate Professor and Extension Specialist – Special Populations at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.

A native of India, Lakshmi  came to the USA as a doctoral student in 1998. After completing her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology in 2002, she began her career as a program coordinator at Texas A&M University. For the past 11 years, Lakshmi has been with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and  has focused on developing and delivering quality professional development programs for public school educators in Texas.

Lakshmi  serves the  Strengthening Families of the Brazos Valley program as the Continuing Quality Improvement Coordinator. She oversees the delivery of SFBV’s programs such that all clients can expect to receive a superior educational  experience. She also ensures that all SFBV staff adhere to quality improvement standards.

In her spare time Lakshmi loves to spend time with her dog, Maxie (widely described as the best behaved Chihuahua in the world), travel and read. She also enjoys meeting new people and is particularly excited to be given the opportunity to do so through the SFBV program.
